Behind its public spaces, the Garden House is a private residence, currently designated for the Gardens Manager. It was originally named "The Bunker" by its builder, Tim Mosley — of the family of Sir Oswald Mosley, England's notorious fascist leader. Tim lived there for several years, holding wine and cheese evenings that were popular with residents across the island, accompanied by classical music and opera on Friday evenings. In this way, the Garden House blends public hospitality and retail with a lived‑in residential presence, giving the site a personal continuity that mirrors its evolution from private estate to a six‑acre botanical oasis on the former Montpelier plantation lands.
