Oasis Restaurant

In the heart of the Gardens is our Oasis Restaurant. Currently open only for special events, visitors may still request and enjoy one of our signature cocktails—the Purple Rain or the Red Corvette—virgin or with their favorite spirits. These homemade drinks feature antioxidant-rich Butterfly Pea or Hibiscus flowers from our gardens.

Refreshments

A variety of refreshing beverages can be purchased at the Admissions Gatehouse at the entrance and enjoyed at any of the seating areas dotted throughout the property.

Picnic areas are available under the Ficus trees and on the terrace of the Great House, with its spectacular views of Nevis Peak, St. Kitts, and other islands across the sea.

Christi Douglas; The Garden’s Guiding Force

Christi Douglas is the owner and guiding force behind the Botanical Gardens of Nevis, a distinctive tropical landscape set on the historic Montpelier Estate beneath Nevis Peak. More than a garden administrator, she has helped shape the property as a personal and public expression of Nevis’s botanical richness—bringing together native Caribbean character, tropical plants from around the world, water features, sculpture and a strong sense of place. Under her stewardship, the garden has become one of the island’s best-loved cultural and horticultural destinations.

Douglas’s approach is both imaginative and hands-on. She has spoken of the Garden’s Rainforest Conservatory, with its waterfalls and winding waterways, as a particular visitor favorite, along with the Vine and Orchid Gardens. The property’s extensive plantings include palms, orchids, bromeliads, medicinal plants, fruit trees and flowering trees, while resident parrots, cockatiels and other animals add another layer of life and character. Her enthusiasm for plants, art and collecting is apparent throughout the grounds, including Asian artworks placed among the foliage and water gardens.

What Christi Douglas has created is more than a beautiful place to visit. The Botanical Gardens of Nevis invite guests to slow down, look closely and experience the island’s remarkable fertility and tropical beauty. Her vision has made the garden a setting for quiet reflection, education, special occasions and discovery—an enduring reminder that gardens can preserve nature while also expressing the personality, curiosity and generosity of the people who care for them.
