The Great House

The Great House at the Botanical Gardens of Nevis is a two‑storey building designed in the style of a Caribbean “Great House,” with an open verandah that looks out across the gardens toward the ocean and Nevis Peak. The ground floor houses the Galleria Gift Shop, which sells handicrafts, clothing, jewelry, and books, while the upper floor is home to the Oasis in the Gardens restaurant with a wide verandah with panoramic views. The structure’s plantation‑house aesthetic intentionally echoes Nevis’s historic sugar‑estate architecture, anchoring the modern botanical attraction in the island’s colonial landscape.
